Mobile Phone Signal

In the UK mobile phone signal is provided by four primary networks which also cover several secondary providers as shown below:

Phone signal is governed by the primary operator and the location of the phone mast. The signal type varies by location and can be any of 2g, 3g, 4g and 5g. The reception for each of these is variable for different providers and geographical locations.

Farington

We understand from a handful of residents that mobile phone signal is limited for O2 (including giffgaff), Vodaphone and EE.

If this is the case for you, the best option may be to activate Wi-Fi calling on your phone. As it stands all primary operators offer Wi-Fi calling for free. The only subnetwork we are aware of that doesn’t is giffgaff.

If you have a smartphone Wi-Fi calling can be enabled in the phone’s settings and step-by-step instructions are available here:

Conclusion

While the network provider is solely responsible for phone signals in an area, Caddick commissioned a survey to hopefully better understand this complex matter.

The survey found that the phone signal quality was not unusual for the area and the simplest way to remedy this would be to enable Wi-Fi calling.
